Singer songwwriter, Ninindi Johnstone writes original music inspired by nature.

Living in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, the natural beauty of the environs inspires constant vocal melodies that uplift and inspire those who appreciate the soft-spoken voice of Spirit.

At first living, growing up in Mossman, FNQ, the Mossman Gorge was Ninindi’s salvation.  Whenever she could as a girl, she would go swimming in the gorge’s cool waters to while away several hours.

While not directly involved with her singing, the gorge definitely involved her love for water – a later inspiration of which she produced the ‘Water’ album.  All about preserving, conserving and above all, appreciating water’s life giving qualities.

‘Water’ can be found for sale as singles here, and while stocks last (when it becomes available), as a bonus inside the book, ‘Water: The Flowing Medium’.

Later, when Ninindi left home, she found herself lost in a sea of options in what to do with life, and chose to go to University to study visual arts.  Except that was not enough to keep her attention and during the last term of University, Ninindi digressed from standard visual arts, and moved into performance arts.  (Without approval, mind you.)

Performance art was exhilarating for Ninindi.  She involved 1st year to 3rd year theatre students, plus sound and lighting technicians, as well as procurring the theatre hall.

Her band of musicians played background music while Ninindi sang and danced in front of an audience of University people.

Even though Ninindi has loved music and singing since she was a little girl when her parents would sing in the car on long drives, music has been a sporadic display in her life.  Having had 5 children since her University years, she’s enjoyed internal music more than actually performing it.  However she firmly believes that it is listening to internal music – ‘listening with the inner ear’ – that makes her a better singer.

Now, Ninindi has finally come of age as a singer.  Explore this site to discover Ninindi’s foray into experimental, “off the cuff” improvised music, some live music, and professionally recorded music.  All falling into categories such as, world, tribal, devotional, funk..
